Kami berada di kilang buah pala Ghee Hup di Sungai Pinang,Balik Pulau,Pulau Pinang. Pengusahanya Encik Chang Kun Mim telah sudi memberi beberapa info tentang buah pala.

 We visited a nutmeg factory,Ghee Hup nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) factory in Sungai Pinang,Balik Pulau,Penang. The proprietor Mr.Chang Kun Mim was much obliged to share with us a few info about the nutmeg fruit.

Buah pala tumbuh subur di Indonesia dan Pulau Pinang. Di Pulau Pinang tempat yg. paling sesuai untuk tanaman pala ialah di Sungai Pinang,Balik Pulau.

The nutmeg grows well in Indonesia and Penang.In Penang the most favourable place happened to be Sungai Pinang,Balik Pulau.

Anak pokok pala berusia 4 tahun. A  4-year old nutmeg tree.

Setiba di kilang kami diberi minuman pala.Sedap dan menghilangkan dahaga.Kami juga telah dipelawa utk.mengisi jus pala ni ke dalam bekas minuman sendiri jika ada.Terima kasih banyak2 En.Chang. On reaching the factory we were offered nutmeg drinks.Tasty and quenching.We were even offered to fill this juice into our own tumblers should we had brought them.Thanks so much Mr.Chang.

Buah ciku pokok sendiri

 

Buah ciku (Achras zapota). Ada orang panggil sawo/sawa/sawoh,sawanila atau menila. Inggeris panggil sapodilla. SapodillaThe sapodilla is also known by various names in the Malay community.

Kulit sawo matang bermakna rona kulit coklat2 gitu. In the Malay community,the brownish colour of the ripen sapodilla,sawo matang,is used to refer to a person’s skin colour.

Dah masak. Setelah diperam 3 hari boleh dimakan.Alhamdulillah. Ripened. After storing/ensilage for 3 days,they’re ready to be eaten.Alhamdulillah.

Manis sungguh.  ﺳﺒﺣﺎﻥﷲ  Very sweet indeed.
